Week 5 : Age Discrimination

Age discrimination is a short abbreviation of ageism. In my terms, I will first define what democracy is, for me this is treating someone in there individuality. They treat other people unfairly due on their non-capability or differences because of their membership on a particular group. So let's get back on age discrimination. Most ageism happens in workplaces, this is when discriminating because of there age. Some companies are retiring the age of 40 but this is not the proper age to retire someone, because I think the companies thinks that they are not good enough to work. But, some companies pends on other that they may trust there skills on doing something that they can even in their age. And some discriminate the mid-thirties which is not right. They hire the younger ages that has more energy than others, but you cannot measure one person on their ages but in their capability or in their potential. The retirement age is 65, this is the most proper, in this age you are now a senior citizen(50 above).

This may happen when your discriminating because of their skin, culture or their similarities. In here, you may have limit opportunities. This may be considered in a game, like when playing basketball, that you must be part of the junior or the senior one, ageism is now happened here. Or when paying in the jeepneys, students and senior citizen mostly they have discounts differ on others. That is legal due on law.

87% believe that most women experience age discrimination because boys have more energy or like that, they are more immune. 40% of the companies are more interested in interviwing young applicants. It is not possible to create something with your age, it is how you can develop yourself as a citizen here. You can be able to pertain something. Some says that age doesn't matter if your willing to do something.
